Silver Jubilee Reunion of the Batch of 2000
The Alchemy of Friendship at Mayo

There is a particular alchemy to life at Mayo that binds us together with a strength we scarcely notice at first. Removed from the comforts of home, we find ourselves thrown into an existence where every triumph and failure are shared. The petrifying chill of early mornings, the echo of reprimands in long corridors, the trade negotiations at every meal. They became the bonds of our brotherhood. In that world, friendships are not merely formed; they were forged, tempered by homesickness, rivalry, laughter, and the peculiar intimacy of growing up side by side. Peeling away at every bashful layer until we’re rid of arrogance, ego and pretence. Probably why even after years apart it takes merely a moment to rekindle that connection.
A quarter of a century later, the full measure of that bond revealed itself to us. At the occasion of our 25th year reunion, made all the more resplendent by the school’s 150th year. An anniversary that made the grand campus look even more glorious than we could have imagined. Through months of collective effort, we gathered close to one hundred alumni from the batch of 2000 who arrived from across the country and distant parts of the world. From the first meeting, some being even longer than 25 years, there was an effortless camaraderie that drew us back into easy laughter, shared recollections, and the easy presence of old companionship.

We began our preparations as early as January 2024 for our glorious homecoming to our alma mater to celebrate the Silver Jubilee – an event the entire batch, along with their better halves and children, had been eagerly looking forward to. By February, the logistics were taken care of, and then came the most difficult part – selecting the merchandise. The theme for the safas and sarees was chosen as “MorPankhi,” in line with the Mayo crest! These were designed by Padma Shri Tayyab from Jodhpur, while our T-shirts and sweatshirts were created by our very own 99er.
As we walked away from those familiar paths, what we had carried away from Mayo was not merely an education, but a lifelong bond that neither distance nor time had managed to diminish.
